Deploying PostgreSQL on Kubernetes

Containerised databases were once restricted to small, development environments, but this is no longer the case. It is become more and more common to see large-scale enterprise PostgreSQL clusters on Kubernetes. Why would you want to do this, and how you can go about deploying this type of architecture whilst ensuring you have the levels of high availability and disaster recovery you need and expect?
